I didn't have to wait for Aden the next morning, because he came twenty minutes early.

Gloria let him in and brought him into the dining room where Nathan, my mom, and I were eating breakfast silently.

When Aden walked through the dining room door, I jumped out of my seat.  "What are you doing here?"

Aden smiled at me.  "Good morning."

"Hello." Nathan said, standing up.  He walked  over to Aden and shook his hand.  "Would you join us?"

"Of course."

Aden passed me and whispered in my ear, "You met mine."

I glared at him as he sat down.

"Honey?" Julie asked.  I looked her way and she motioned me to sit down.  I sat down next to Aden and watched him.  He took a cinnamon roll off a platter and an apple off another, and put them on the plate in front of him.

"So where do you live son?"  Nathan asked.

"Just down the road."  Aden took a bite out of the cinnamon roll then another.  He seemed to be comfortable.

"Oh yes.  With your mother."

I looked at my mom.  She was staring at me.  I shrugged, and then started to eat my breakfast.

Nathan and Aden talked a little more about the movie business before we left.

When we were finally on the road to school, after what seemed like an hour long breakfast, I asked, "Why did you come so early?

"I figured it was a good time to meet your parents."

"Why didn't you ask me first?"

"I knew you would say no."

"So..." I grumbled, crossing my arms over my chest.

"My mom wants you over for dinner again tonight."

My feelings of anger were completely washed away.  "Really?"

"Yeah.  She likes it when you come over.  She says it makes me look happier."

I smiled.  "What time?"

"How about you come over a little early.  How about five-thirty.  We have dinner at seven."

"Sounds like a date."  I sat up a little straighter in my seat.  Maybe this day wasn't so bad after all.

Aden picked me up in his car like last time.  I got in, seeing a worried Aden.

"You okay?"

Aden turned the car around and headed straight for his house.  "I'm fine. Trevor just went into the woods.  i don't know what his problem is."

"I think you should just forget about it for now.  You should focus on tonight.  The dinner, us."

"Of course I should, it is just easier said than done."

We went inside and dinner was already prepared.  Salads and fruit like last time.  I didn't mind it though.  It was nice to have something simple rather than have what what we have at home.

After awhile Amy and I got to talking about clothes back in the early 1800’s. When Aden hadn’t said anything in a while I turned to look at him. He was starring at the table cloth not really seeing it. It looked like he was listening for something.

I touched his arm gently. He snapped his head up and starred wide eyed at my face.

“Aden?” I said. He looked so scared. I was getting scared just looking at him.

Ryan and Clark stood up immediately. I suppose it was the mind reading thing.

Amy looked lost though. Aden stood up as well and started to talk real fast and quiet so I couldn’t hear him. Amy stood up as well and said “Go! Quick! Bring her back here Aden. Clark and Ryan go get Trevor. Now!”

They all vanished in one quick movement. I was so confused.

I looked at Amy. She was walking from one end of the table to the next rather quickly. To a normal human it would be running.

“What is going on?” I said louder than necessary. Amy stopped her pacing and looked at me. “Trevor has attacked someone. It’s serious.” Amy said coldly.

That hit me like a brick. Trevor? The really nice guy I met the first day of school, attacked someone? How could this be?

I sat there for about an hour before I could get up.

Just then, my phone rang.  "Hello?" I asked into the reciever.

"Hey Candace.  It's me." Mike said on the other line.

"Oh, hey."

I got up and paced with Amy.

I was sure he could hear the distress in my voice, and I was right. "Are you okay?"

"Well actually..."

Amy all of a sudden stopped walking, I did as well.  I stopped talking and looked at Amy.

She looked like she was listening. A few seconds later I heard the front door slam open. Amy and I ran to it to see what happened.

"Candace?" Mike said from the other line, but I didn't answer.

Clark and Ryan were holding Trevor’s arms. Trevor had blood all down his front. He looked like he had been feeding.

“Where is she?’ asked Amy earnestly.

“Aden has her. “said Clark. Amy walked over to the bottom of the stairs and opened a hidden hatch on the floor. Clark and Ryan lead Trevor down it and disappeared.

"What is going on over there?  Candace?  Candace answer me!" Mike screamed.

"I--I--blood." I said, too stunned to think about what I was saying, and who I was saying it to.  I had no idea what was going on. What was happening? Who was she?

"Blood?  Candace are you alright?"

My questions were answered a second later. Aden came in the front door holding a screaming girl. She was yelling at the top of her lungs telling Aden to kill her, to make the pain stop. When he spun her around to bring her up the stairs I saw her face.

It was Maryana.
Large cliffhanger...
